Gloria Bratschi Risk Management Specialist, Social Communicator
Gloria is a Disaster Risk Management and Community Resilience Specialist with extensive experience across Argentina and Latin America. Gloria serves as the National Focal Point for Argentina within the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) and is a member of its Regional Advisory Group, contributing to improved communication and collaboration across the region. Gloria is also an Honorary Member of the Mexican College of Professionals in Risk Management and Civil Protection and was a national promoter of the UN campaign "Making Cities Resilient."
Gloria is President of Fundación Junto al Desarrollo (JADE) and hosts the programme "Epicentro Argentina", through a collaboration between JADE and Radio Epicentro Mexico. Gloria has received several international awards, including the Ramazzini & Carvalho Award 2021 from ASEHPROC (Mexico's top civil protection distinction) and the Legislative Distinction "General Don José de San Martín" in Mendoza, Argentina (2022), for her outstanding professional and humanitarian contributions. In 2022, Gloria was also recognised by GNDR in Guatemala for strengthening Latin American network communication. Gloria is an AECID Civil Protection Fellow (Spain).
Gloria holds a degree in Communication, and postgraduate specialisations in disaster prevention and integrated risk management, and non-profit leadership, with studies at the National University of Cuyo, CIFOT, PAHO/WHO, OAS, and Fundación Telefónica. Gloria is currently completing her Master's thesis in Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development.
Gloria works as a lecturer and researcher at several Argentine universities, including the National University of Cuyo and the University of Salvador. She also advises on integrating disaster resilience into primary school curricula in Mendoza. Gloria was an invited expert at the 2005 World Conference on Disaster Reduction in Kobe, Japan, and has presented at numerous international forums, including UN DRR platforms from 2009 to 2023, most recently at the VIII Regional Platform in Uruguay.
