Lorenzo is a highly experienced major hazards expert on hazard and risk assessments, risk-based inspections, Safety Reports, land use planning, and external emergency plans related to hazardous establishments falling under the Seveso Directive. He also advices on matters related to strengthening and improving emergency institutional capacity under disaster and crisis management. Lorenzo's expertise extends to the areas of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear safeguarding, as well as CBRNe.
In addition, he collaborates with various governmental and non-governmental organizations such as the Major Accident Hazards Bureau at the EC Joint Research Centre, UNECE, OECD, EIB, and national Chemical Competent Authorities to ensure that the Seveso Directive and TEIA Convention's technical aspects are effectively implemented. Lorenzo also collaborates as a risk and asset integrity management specialist for the Middle East region (Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq) with TÜV Rheinland. Moreover, as a Project Team Leader, he led EuropeAid Technical Assistance projects in Türkiye respectively for the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
